Building bridges of understanding between people from all different backgrounds, Arctic Exploration aims to be the Northern hemisphere's premier diplomatic center.

understanding

Alaska, with all its peoples, lands, animals, and plants, is the yardstick by which the world knows itself.

The problem

Screen time, Artificial Intelligence, etc etc. The list of today's problems is long. Disconnection is quickly becoming the result of hundreds of thousands of years of being human, even of a million years of being human. The oldest artifact that points to us making abstract meaning is a shell with a few lines scratched onto it, and it is roughly estimated to be about a million years old. Our brains have not changed in 100,000 years. Modern life is so full of technology which knows how to keep us scrolling that for some, a few days living on the Alaskan land in tents might seem like living on a different planet. Living simply, connecting, and engaging in meaningful dialog is getting harder and harder.

by going camping

A solution

I can go out in -65 F, -53 C, with twenty mph, 32 kph winds. It's dangerous and I have to have the entire Northwest Arctic Borough and Native Village of Selawik, Alaska behind me to do it. My classical education in English and Dance have led me through a series of jobs in environmentalism, academia and public health. Now, through Arctic Exploration, I am focused on facilitating and moderating small groups dialogs centered on what is important to each group of campers. Conversations are different when the background is wide open land with fresh air and a campfire. Arctic Exploration brings people together to help focus their discussions and find workable solutions. Eventually, we hope to find partners in rural Alaskan communities to host these types of outdoor based events in areas surrounding their villages. In this way, people can share their own stories and perspectives while facilitating and moderating. External locus of control? Internal locus of control? What is human in a growingly digital world? Arctic Exploration is here for it. Finally, as many campers know, "everything tastes good when you're camping"! So book a few day trip with us to relax, enjoy the landscapes, and explore totally new environments.
